I am pleased to note that Maharashtra Solar Manufacturers’ Association is launching its website on 25th Feb 2009 at Pune. Solar Energy sector is witnessing a new boom world over. India has also intensified its efforts to meet the challenges of growing energy needs by harnessing solar energy. Thousands of solar energy systems for water heating, lighting, water pumping and communications are being used in our country. |

| There is a well-developed solar industry in the country which has developed these technologies, fine-tuned them and still working to make them market oriented products. A number of initiatives have been taken by my Ministry recently to promote electricity generation through solar photovoltaic and solar thermal technologies. A novel generation based incentive initiative was launched by my Ministry in January 2008 which has met tremendous response. Solar industry is going to have huge demand of large area solar PV modules as well as solar thermal systems. I am sure Maharashtra, which has been traditionally very advanced State for the solar industry, would use these new schemes and initiatives for phenomenal growth of the sector. I hope that Maharashtra Solar Manufacturers’ Association would remain in forefront to voice the demand of solar industry and will work as a vital link between industry, Maharashtra State and Government of India. I wish all success to their endeavors. |
